3.5. Making purchases with a balance transfer card

If you get a balance transfer to a new credit card, any purchases you make will be charged interest straight away. This means you will add to the existing debt and could also be charged interest on part of your balance and could make it harder to pay off the debt within the introductory period.

If you’re trying to pay down an existing credit card debt, it’s better to avoid making any more purchases on credit until you have paid it off.
